Vegan MoFo Day 24 - Christmas Birthday Cake

No your eyes do not deceive you, this was a birthday cake request. It somewhat resembles a South Park character but that wasn't intentional. This was a sponge cake minus the cherries, sliced in half and filled with strawberry jam and buttercream then covered in more buttercream and decorated with fondant icing.
The Christmas and Birthday hating friend was delighted with it.

GO VEGAN!
Go MoFo!

Thanks guys, it was a weird request but the birthday boy was delighted with it.
Cara - you betcha I'll make you a cake, though it might get squished in the post so I'll just eat it for you as well. You're welcome.

Please tell me we are talking vegan fondant and vegan buttercream :) Just gone vegan not long after I developed a serious problem with fondant cookies and buttercreamed cupcakes, which I was actually making to raise money for a cat shelter...need an alternative.

I know but I haven't found yet a decent vegan fondant recopy...that looks really good.
Any clues on how to do it :)
